ANNIK
PIRIOU
Annik Piriou studied
Fine Art at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Painting in Oxford
in the 1960’s. By the 1980’s Annik had started making
jewellery.
Annik uses simple tools, modern versions of those used by jewellers
through the ages. Working mostly in silver she decorates in various
ways; indenting with steel punches, which she makes herself; oxidisation
to provide a contrast. Annik adds 18ct gold detail and some semi-prescious
stones. Annik is still fascinated by the process- how a piece, partly
worked, blackened and unprepossessing, is transformed into a desirable
object.
She works out her designs both on paper and working, allowing a
constant evolution.
Annik wishes her work to be beautiful , wearable and recognisably
hers.
