CLARE
WRATTEN Clare graduated from Bath College of Higher Education with a BA(Hons) in 1996. She always finds that form and elegance are the two things that draw her to a piece of ceramic art. Consequently they are what she particularly desires in her own work. She has spent many years trying to make perfect pots with her porcelain, but after researching Chinese ceramics she was struck by the fact that they liked imperfections, so she decided to focus on this and explore what we see as perfection. She wants to draw attention to 'defects' in her work and make them beautiful and precious. She also makes two ranges of functional earthenware to satisfy her want to make work for people to use and enjoy on an everyday basis. |
