Janet Phillips has been designing and weaving hand woven fabrics for over 30 years, after gaining a First Class Honours Degree in Industrial Textile Design from the Scottish College of Textiles.
She specialises in weaving clothing and upholstery fabrics for private clients who want to decorate their homes or ‘themselves’ with a unique and individual style.
Colour and texture are the passions that keep her weaving. Yarns are carefully dyed to create the correct colour value for a particular project. The weaves she constructs mixes these yarns into rich rainbows of colour.
Her principle aim is to practice ‘GOOD DESIGN’. For Janet this means designing and weaving textiles in gorgeous colours with a beautiful handle and perfect drape. It means using interesting weaves, textures and yarns to give a totally functional fabric, which will give pleasure to the person using it.
