TLWS JOHNSON

Tlws trained
in ceramics and glass and graduated in 1996.
With the help of Southern Arts she set up her own workshop where
she makes a variety of kiln formed glass.
She uses re-cycled Dartington lead crystal cullet melted into a
mould to form large sculptures which usually have a polished side
to reveal the interior where the colours swirl about and tiny air
pockets look like silver drops within the glass. Most of these sculptures
are originals but Tlws also makes a limited edition of certain items.
The fused glass has colour trapped between the sheets. The picture
plates have handmade stands in glass, metal or ceramics or screw
fixing to mount on a wall. Larger pieces are mounted into a frame
for hanging.
The Jubilee Window is an example of a fused piece and can be seen
in St Lawrence Church, Winslow, Bucks.
