BECOMING A MEMBER OF THE OXFORDSHIRE CRAFT GUILD

Membership of the  Oxfordshire Craft Guild offers:

  • the opportunity to participate in the permanent outlets and temporary exhibitions organized by the Guild
  • three meetings per year, some business others social
  • a programme of talks
  • a regular Newsletter
  • discounts on purchases at Broad Canvas in Oxford, The Toolpost in Didcot and at 3D Displays.

There are five steps to becoming  a member:

  1. Complete the application form (below) and send it to the Guild with a CV and up to six photographs of work
  2. The application is considered by the Board of the Guild at one of its regular meetings and, if thought promising, you will be invited for interview
  3. Interviews are held every March and October.  The interviewing panel is usually four members, of whom at least one will be a practitioner of your craft.  Applicants are asked to bring work for discussion.  Interviews are relaxed and friendly, with applicants having every opportunity to demonstrate their craftsmanship, design capability and professionalism.
  4. Applicants are informed of the decision about a week later
  5. Successful applicants are initially admitted as Associate Members for two years, during which time they must prove their commitment to their craft and the Guild.  Full Membership then follows.

Associate or Full Members may participate in a different craft from the one through which they gained their original membership but must apply again in that new craft, demonstrating fine craftsmanship and good design as before.
