BECOMING
A MEMBER OF THE OXFORDSHIRE CRAFT GUILD
Membership of the Oxfordshire Craft Guild
offers:
- the opportunity to participate in the
permanent outlets and temporary exhibitions organized by the
Guild
- three meetings per year, some business
others social
- a programme of talks
- a regular Newsletter
- discounts on purchases at
Broad Canvas in Oxford, The
Toolpost in Didcot and at 3D
Displays.
There are five steps to
becoming a member:
- Complete the application
form (below) and send it to the Guild with a CV and up to six
photographs of work
- The application is
considered by the Board of the Guild at one of its regular
meetings and, if thought promising, you will be invited for
interview
- Interviews are held every
March and October. The interviewing panel is usually four
members, of whom at least one will be a practitioner of your
craft. Applicants are asked to bring work for
discussion. Interviews are relaxed and friendly, with
applicants having every opportunity to demonstrate their
craftsmanship, design capability and professionalism.
- Applicants are informed of
the decision about a week later
- Successful applicants are
initially admitted as Associate Members for two years, during
which time they must prove their commitment to their craft and
the Guild. Full Membership then follows.
Associate or Full Members may
participate in a different craft from the one through which they
gained their original membership but must apply again in that new
craft, demonstrating fine craftsmanship and good design as before.
